Santa Cruz, Guatemala

Project year:

2021

In November 2021, uring the late stages of the pandemic, we traveled to Santa Cruz on Lake Atitlán, Guatemala. We’ve made it a tradition to celebrate birthdays not with parties or presents, but through acts of kindness — especially for children in underserved communities.

That year, we hosted a joyful celebration for the local children of Santa Cruz. We served meals, shared sweets and treats, and handed out gift bags filled with essentials: toothbrushes, underwear, clothing, footwear, and soccer balls. The smiles on their faces were unforgettable.

Each morning, we supported a local family by purchasing groceries and inviting them to prepare breakfast, which we shared together. This small gesture created a powerful bond and helped support their daily livelihood.

The most meaningful part of our journey came when we met a young family living in extreme poverty.  Inspired by their resilience and warmth, we assisted them to build them a proper house.

This experience reminded us how much impact a single trip — and a single act of giving — can have.
Now, we want to do more.
